Marvel (Comics) - J. Jonah Jameson/Quentin Beck

AU of Mysterio's very first issue where instead of getting caught out immediately, either Mysterio successfully manages to defeat and unmask Spider-Man or he just escapes and is wary about going after Spider-Man further immediately. Either way he decides he actually really enjoys being hailed as a hero and starts playacting as a vigilante for the positive attention -- including from Jonah. Whether he's actually fighting crime, or if he's setting up fake scenarios to interfere with and "stop criminals" and ends up making real enemies... Either could work!

After failing to unmask Spider-Man as "Dr. Rinehart," Spidey unmasked Quentin Beck instead and then left him tied up in his house with Flash and Jameson. Assuming that Flash didn't stick around, maybe Beck appeals to Jameson as a fellow hater of Spider-Man (or maybe doesn't even have to try to appeal to him!) and Jameson ends up untying him before the police arrive. We could go from there with romance and/or more plotty stuff.

Could be combined with the above but we could also come up with our own scenario: Jameson's worked with supervillains and even (usually accidentally) created some before! Maybe Jameson and Mysterio actually decide to work together in order to try to unmask and take down Spider-Man.

Alternately, maybe Beck fakes another identity to try to take down Spider-Man and this time decides to keep an eye on Jameson so that he doesn't accidentally interfere again. Beck interacting with Jameson while pretending to be someone else again, maybe initially fake-flirting, and then the complication of falling for him while Jameson doesn't even know who he really is could be fun!

Very vague/small idea: Mysterio likes to show off for the cameras whenever any press shows up while he's doing a supervillain thing, but he peacocks most when Jameson is around. Maybe he's flirting on purpose, maybe he doesn't even realize he's doing it.

Similarly vague/small idea that could pair with the above (but doesn't have to): Jameson getting it into his head to interview supervillains and Mysterio responds to the offer.

Beck decides he wants to go straight and no one seems to believe it except Jameson. Maybe Jameson even scoffs at Spider-Man as a menace for "harrying" Beck while Beck's trying to reform, getting Beck's attention and intriguing him. (This could also work with Beck only pretending to go straight.)

Instead of Mysterio quitting, it could be fun to play with an AU where Jameson decides to become a supervillain himself! Whether he accidentally gets powers and decides to go for it, or decides to get his hands on some tech and tells himself he's only going to use it to take down Spider-Man and nothing further, Mysterio seeking him out like "!!" could be fun!

Just something with these two independently deciding to go to a gay bar/club because they're lonely and being completely surprised to see one another there could be really interesting! This could be the first time they've interacted since Jameson accidentally interfered with Mysterio unmasking Spider-Man. Also, they could both have known they're not straight for ages but one or both of them could also still be figuring themselves out; maybe it's one's first time at a place like that? I'd love to play it out and see how they interact!

For this ship I am just in general into genderswapping them into F// because J. Jonah Jameson as a butch lesbian is super, super hot okay bye.

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon) - Adrian Toomes/Otto Octavius

A pre-canon roleplay that starts with their first meeting and then goes through wherever we feel like it, maybe even all the way through to post-canon events! I love that they worked together at Tri Corp pre-canon and seemed to be really close even back then; I'd love to explore what they might have been like back then before getting to their supervillain stuff! Either just friendship that only later builds into more or them going from working on a project together to having coffee dates or something!

A roleplay that instead starts at (or just includes) them meeting again after Doctor Octopus was first arrested and sent to Ryker's! They were cellmates so there's a lot of potential here. Vulture seems to have canonically forgiven Otto by that point, and Otto had changed greatly; I like the idea that Adrian honestly thought higher of Otto than he himself did pre-canon and might be incredibly pleased by Ock's confidence, his awareness of his own genius, his refusal to put up with bad treatment now, and his overall new awareness that he does indeed deserve better. Were there the embers of love pre-canon that fully flourish now that they're both supervillains? Whether or not that's true yet, it'd also be fun to play out them planning their eventual Sinister Six teamup and jailbreak!

General supervillain plotty stuff! Them being an effective Battle Couple whether they're a couple or not, them working together on a genius plan before actually enacting it... Danger and hurt/comfort and loyalty stuff can also go here; Tombstone could try to take out the competition, Venom might hold a grudge over Ock's threat to forcibly remove the suit from Peter Parker even if Ock didn't realize at the time, Stanley Carter could become Sin-Eater, someone could threaten one or the other of them to make Ock "call off his dog," one of them could get hurt (or someone could try to hurt one of them) and the other could get furious and protect them and/or take whoever did it down! They could plot out and commit a crime, they could fight Spider-Man, they could team up with Spider-Man against a bigger threat. The Lizard could unexpectedly show up again and be an unexpected problem. The Green Goblin could return; they both have some bad personal history with him! Vulture could continue to act as Doctor Octopus's backup/bodyguard in situations. Basically anything you can think of could go here. Is Otto trying to take over the world for his own sense of safety, deep down, and/or is he honestly trying to help in some ways (feels like he'd run it far better than things currently are going right now); is Adrian backing him up because Otto deserves the world if he wants it and Adrian will help him get it?

Tiny idea, but at the end of "Gangland" Ock is arrested but Vulture seems to have disappeared. We could do a scene where Ock doesn't even make it to the police station before Vulture rips a hole in the cruiser's roof and retrieves him, takes him back to their current hideout to help take care of any injures he may have. We could see where things go from there, maybe combining it with most any of these other ideas!

Downtime, less actually plotty stuff! Things like them making up for how badly Valentine's Day went and getting dressed up again and actually going for dinner, them hanging around their hideout (with or without any of the other Sinister Six we feel like) and playing games or watching movies or something, cooking or making coffee, reminiscing about the old days and/or how their lives have changed. If you have any shippy, fluffy ideas that are lighter on plot just toss 'em at me.

I won't lie, I kind of love the idea of Doctor Octopus, Vulture, and maybe the Sinister Six in general working with Spider-Man often enough against mutual enemies that they come to a better understanding of one another and everyone involved starts to mellow out. Ock and/or Vulture bonding with Spider-Man, maybe eventually a mentorship or partnership thing, Spider-Man starting to see that they aren't just evil but that there's a point to what they're doing while the Sinister Six start to come around to Spider-Man's arguments about how to approach situations could be fun. I just kinda like the idea of these two mentoring and semi-adopting Peter Parker tbqh. This could be combined with anything else; I do love lighter takes on villains.

Villain redemption stuff in general! Could be combined with the above but it doesn't have to be. Otto could realize he's going about things the wrong way, retire or start helping Spider-Man, and I actually do 100% think that Adrian would follow suit if he did. Could be played for them being more vigilante-like around the city or, less plotty, them retiring from supervillainy and settling down to enjoy life together.

A scenario where Vulture transforms basically into a harpy just won't leave my head! It could happen in a few ways... Given his teeth and eyes he might actually have some mostly-dormant harpy blood that is slowly transforming him or that maybe Miles Warren accidentally activates while trying to figure out what's weird about his DNA. Or Miles Warren could just forcibly inject him with something that makes him More Bird. Either way I'd love to play a scenario where Adrian is getting used to being less human, not being able to blend in among humans anymore, flying in a different way than his flight suit used to allow, etc., and Otto being encouraging and supportive and soothing.

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon) - Donald Menken/Phineas Mason

Just in general this ship requires a bit of explanation since the two of them have, like, a combined screentime of less than 20 minutes. In a 10-ish-hours canon. But Mason is a career criminal and he may have been for many years. Given how brilliant his inventions are, he could make plenty of money working aboveboard, so I really can't think of a reason he'd be doing this except for the love of it. I feel like he has a moral compass, it's just skewed, and he enjoys the thrill of danger and the adrenaline of crime while not liking it when situations get really out of his control, which is why he doesn't fight himself and doesn't get anywhere near center stage. And given how Menken worked loyally and unblinkingly for Norman Osborn even while he was being hunted by at least one supervillain, and helped him both run a very illegal auction for very dangerous people and was fully complicit in secretly screwing those dangerous people over... Yeah, I feel like if these two ever met Mason would be like, "wow, same hat, he absolutely reminds me of me when I was younger." Into the danger and the thrill and intrigued by the idea of getting into crime without necessarily being able to admit it to himself just yet. So with that being said...

A scenario where Menken decides he wants to commission something from the Tinkerer for protection in case the Green Goblin comes back. Yes, he seems to have died, but after Osborn threw him under the bus and was very careless with his health in the finale, I can see Menken deciding he needs to take matters into his own hands to make sure the Goblin can't just decide to kill him. I would love for this plot to have Menken eventually becoming a supervillain himself, maybe even joining the Sinister Six, with Tinkerer's help and encouragement. It could be fun to come up with a supervillain identity or to have Menken take the role of a comics character like Hobgoblin or Owl or Scorpion!

Alternately, a scenario in which Menken looks for protection from Osborn by deciding to become the P.A. of someone who could fight the Goblin for him! Specifically, either L. Thompson Lincoln or one of the Manfredis (Silvio or Sable). Whoever he works for might even be considering grooming him to be their new right hand man, whether he's open to that idea or doesn't think he wants to get that involved. Tinkerer has done work for both Tombstone (making Ricochet and Ox's skill enhancement suits) and Silvermane (making his suit, too!), so whoever Menken goes to work for, he could meet Mason that way if Mason is back doing more freelance commission work for them. They could bond as semi-coworkers, talk about both (sort of) working for the same crime lord/mob boss, Mason could help Menken figure out what he wants to do and how to maneuver getting more deeply involved in a dangerous business without getting in too far over his head, they could get closer...

Something combining the previous two, maybe Menken meets Tinkerer through their "mutual employer" but whoever is employing Menken/commissioning Tinkerer feels that Tinkerer is starting to outlive his usefulness -- that he's too loyal to the Sinister Six when Tombstone/Silvermane/Silver Sable sees Doctor Octopus as a competitor and enemy. Maybe they even find out that he's doing something like putting in a failsafe that can be used to shut down Ricochet and Ox's suits completely if need be or creating an invention that's meant to harmlessly absorb Silvermane's sonic attacks and consider it a betrayal. Whatever the case, I'd love for Menken and Mason to bond like in the previous prompt but for Tombstone/Silvermane/Silver Sable to warn Menken early on not to get too attached and for it to come to a head with them trying to kill Mason at some point and Menken having to choose sides. Menken could wind up getting the heck out of Dodge with Tinkerer and/or the Sinister Six and decide to work for himself with a skill enhancement suit instead of continuing on working for a mob boss!

Mutual kidnapping! Whether they're somewhat close, barely know each other, or are just meeting for the first time due to this, maybe someone dangerous decides they're very unhappy with both Mason and Menken and abducts them, or at least tries. If Menken did go to work for Tombstone, maybe Hammerhead goes after them both, Menken for "replacing him" and Tinkerer for making skill enhancement suits for the Enforcers. Or maybe Silver Sable goes after Menken after she finds out somehow that he'd cheated them all at the auction and after Tinkerer because she's not happy with the performance of her father's skill enhancement suit. Maybe the Green Goblin does come back and goes after Menken because it's unfinished business and after Tinkerer to send a message to Chameleon or Ock or Vulture. Maybe Miles Warren tries to abduct them/have them abducted to experiment on them! Whether or not it's a successful abduction and they have to try to break out/await rescue and maybe protect each other, or it's an attempt and they have to try to work together to evade and hide and run, there's a lot that could be done here.

A scenario in which for some reason Green Goblin comes back (but Norman Osborn is still lying low) or they suspect he might and Doc Ock has Mason, and maybe Beck and even Chameleon as well, infiltrate Oscorp anticipating that he might go after Menken and preparing to evacuate Menken (and maybe even replace him with Chameleon) while setting up an attack on the Goblin. Menken can be in on this or not have any idea until shit starts going down and suddenly these 1-3 random newish employees are suddenly really efficiently getting him the heck out of a soon-to-be warzone.

A scenario in which Norman Osborn comes back claiming to have gotten amnesia after the Green Goblin's glider crashed, that he just started to remember and that he deeply regrets everything he did while under the influence of the goblulin green. To all appearances he is a changed man, nowhere near perfect but definitely changed for the better. Menken can tell that something's not right, though, and Doctor Octopus doesn't believe a word of it. Things come to a head at Norman and his wife's marriage ceremony to renew their vows; Menken is there under Osborn's insistence and Mason (and maybe Beck, maybe even Chameleon) are there undercover because Osborn is obviously planning something and Ock doesn't even slightly trust him or want him to get away with whatever it is. And the ceremony is attacked by people who seemingly want to abduct Norman Osborn and are willing to kill to do so. Mason and anyone else there wind up helping evacuate and especially wind up helping Menken get out safe, because it seems like the attackers might want to kill specifically him. Etc. etc. basically this is just an elaborate rescue scenario with Osborn trying to make an excuse to be "turned back into" the Green Goblin with arguable legal defense plus wanting to get Menken out of the way since he could potentially testify against him.

MASQUERADE. I can think of a bunch of ways to set this up to happen, I could just love a roleplay where Mason and Menken meet for the first time at a masquerade and there's a surprising (to both of them) amount of chemistry there. Mason is probably there to help someone pull off a crime, let's be real; I just want him being too professional to get completely distracted but still being really intrigued by how well he and Menken are clicking. They could dance, they could kiss, they could either exchange names or decline to do so while figuring out a different way to meet again later.

I won't lie, I am also very into Beck/Mason/Menken and just feel like Mysterio could play off Menken in fun ways in general. It's not necessary but if you're interested just let me know!

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon) - Phineas Mason/Quentin Beck

A pre-canon roleplay that starts with their first meeting and then goes through wherever we feel like it, maybe even all the way through to post-canon events! For a first meeting I can imagine the two being introduced through both of them working for Chameleon on separate jobs, maybe living in different cities at first, but then Chameleon brings them together for a bigger job and it turns out they work as a team incredibly well.

Everyday criminal stuff with Chameleon, before the "Persona" episode! I'd love to explore all the various types of jobs they do, for themselves or being hired by other people. There's a lot that could be fun here! All of them going undercover (Beck crossdressing at some point loved but not required), creating stuff and preparing and being perfectionistic before a job, Mason hanging back and hacking into stuff to help out Chameleon and Beck who are on the inside, competing with Black Cat on jobs... I am happy to play Chameleon for plot purposes, for you to play Chameleon, or for us to switch off with the character. (Same holds true for Black Cat if we use her.)

FAKE DATING/FAKE MARRIAGE. I am a sucker for this trope and them going undercover and pretending to be a couple, either dating or actually married, is great. Either with Beck disguised as a woman or not; for a fake marriage we can just handwave that gay marriage is legal. Alternately, one of them could be faking it with Chameleon. I am also happy with one or both of them already having feelings before the act, and/or with one or both of them figuring it out because of the act.

I am honestly a sucker for scenarios where these two take a step forward in intimacy and then fall in love. Them becoming basically roommates once they shift over to Sinister Six stuff when they hadn't exactly lived together working with Chameleon? Them starting up casual touch? Them dancing at some party they've infiltrated for a job or at a mutual friend's wedding? Them actually getting married entirely for the legal benefits (hospital visitations, conjugal visits, and not having to testify against one another in court) and only falling in love afterward?

Exploring their transition from career criminals helping Chameleon pull off the most extreme cases of identity theft possible to becoming outright supervillains themselves! (Or, well, Beck becoming Mysterio and Phineas becoming the Tinkerer, even if Tinkerer is mostly backstage technical support.) I have an idea that due to Chameleon's disappearance, the confusion of those on the yacht, and a general lack of evidence, Beck and Mason didn't even go to trial after their arrest and that the Master Planner sought them out not long after. Who came up with the specific role of Mysterio and how? I'd love to see them working together on setting that up and getting more into the whole supervillain thing!

Rescues and hurt/comfort! I could love Tinkerer rescuing Mysterio by controlling robots from a distance to help and/or sending something to help extract him from a bad situation, or just the two of them planning for things to go wrong and setting stuff up beforehand. I could also love Tinkerer getting in over his head, maybe even betrayed or captured/threatened by another villain (I have ideas for Hammerhead, the Enforcers and/or Tombstone, Silvermane, and Silver Sable specifically), even getting hurt before Mysterio (and any of the other Sinister Six, hell, and/or even Spider-Man) comes in to help!

A much more specific hurt/comfort scenario: I love Spider-Man but whoo boy what he did in "Shear Strength" screams for rescue and H/C. I'd love for Beck to go and get Mason, either from street-level or, maybe as Mysterio, from up on the roof or even still webbed partway up the side of the building, to take him back to a hideout and help with any injuries he might have as well as emotional/psychological shaking up. I am happy for this to happen in a roleplay where their relationship is already established, whether we played out them getting together or not!

Just in general I am open to both getting together stuff and established relationship stuff in roleplays with these two, by the way, or one leading to the other. I am good with them getting feelings and/or getting together during a roleplay or part of the roleplay that's set pre-canon, during canon, or post-canon. Anything from them getting together shortly after meeting, them only realizing they have feelings for each other post-canon, or one or both of them developing feelings pre-canon but pining for years would be fun! And any or all of the above ideas can be combined into one roleplay!

I am in general SO HAPPY with either one of them pining for years as the other more slowly falls for them, one of them pining for years and it takes longer for the other to abruptly fall/realize they love them too, or mutual pining where somehow they don't realize it's mutual! All of that is such catnip to me.

I am also super, super into Chameleon/Beck/Mason and would be very happy for either of us to play Chameleon and have it be a poly thing! Just let me know if you're into that!

Vampire Cleanup Department (2017) - Yeung Chung/Yip Chi Chau

I won't lie, right now I am super into the idea of an AU where Chau actually becomes a jiangshi. So what if it turns out that a cure wasn't feasible, but it also turns out that Tim was right and it's absolutely not necessary to kill vampires because most who were not bad in life can be changed and become good/"human" (in the movie's vernacular). So after Chau is bitten, Tim and the rest of the VCD help him remember himself and start learning to get back to normal, or as normal as possible. Eating pig (or duck) blood curd, walking normally again, being able to fight even as a jiangshi, maybe even speaking again... Chung helping him while understanding how frustrated he must be and being shaken up by how close he came to dying would be really fun to play out.

Alternately, a lot of the above stuff, only maybe Chung was the one who got bit instead of Chau? I am happy to play it this way around if you prefer!

Just in general I am into the idea that Chau might have been in love with Tim's father before he died and has just never quite moved on, while Chung has been in love with Chau for about as long, hasn't gotten over it, and hasn't said a single word. Not so much as hinted. He knows Chau far too well by this point, has at least convinced himself that he's content being a friend and coworker, and has accepted that one or both of them will probably die without Chau ever finding out much less anything happening. I'd love to figure out a situation that could shake that up! (Could also be combined with the jiangshi!Chau AU, but wouldn't have to be.)

The above but Chau doesn't have to have been in love with Tim's father or anything. I just really in general love these two doing VCD stuff while Chung is silently in love and things eventually coming to a head somehow and Chau finding out/figuring it out!
